Despite how Henry VIII is portrayed as a king he was a very lean, athletic child who enjoyed tennis, jousting, music and hunting. On top of the athletic side he also had a very intelligent mind. He like to participate in conversations about astronomy and geometry. He spoke English, French, Spanish and Latin. He also had an artistic side because he was into writing books and music. Henry VIII sustained leg injuries in a jousting accident which ended up keeping him from being very athletic. Henry was also very religious, sometimes going to church three times a day. Henry VIII father was Henry VII. He had 6 siblings, of which only three survived; Arthur, Margaret, and Mary. Arthur was destined to take the throne as the oldest son but he died at the age of 15 and left his 10 year old brother, Henry, to be second in the Tudor dynasty. He took the crown in 1509 when his father Henry VII died. Henry VIII gained a stable realm with the monarch's finances in a healthy surplus from Henry VII.
